2009-11-26
The Digital Poland Team, appointed by Prime Minister Donald Tusk and headed up by Witold Drozdz, petitioned and assisted by the UKE, has prepared a bill which is to eliminate all barriers slowing down investments in
telecommunications and internet infrastructure,
Gazeta Wyborcza reported. The bill has already been approved by the government and has high chances of a green light from the Sejm, and may come into force in January 2010.
If passed, the act should encourage authorities of municipalities to invest in
telecoms and internet infrastructure and force construction companies to build in optic fibers in new
road investments or during the overhaul of existing infrastructure. Thereunder, developers would be pressed to do the same while erecting new buildings. It is also to shorten the waiting period for obtaning permits for this type of investments.
The enactment is expected also to have a great impact on the development of e-administration in the country.
