First electronic court started operating in Poland

The first electronic court in Poland, based in Lublin, is to commence operating from the beginning of January 2010. Only the reprimand proceedings, i.e., a petition that does not raise any major concern such as unpaid bills or invoices, can be submitted to the court. There are about 1 million such reprimand proceedings in Poland per year, currently heard by regional courts. The founders of the e-court expect that half of such suits will be submitted to the court via the Internet.
The petitioner will have to log in, using login and password, in order to lay an e-action. An e-signature is not required. In addition, the petitioner will have to pay via electronic transfer a fee of 1.25% of the value of the claim. The application will be submitted on an electronic form and the paper evidence such as bills and invoices will not be required; the petitioner will only have to describe these documents.
By the way of example, such electronic courts already operate in Great Britain and Germany, which has such an online court in every district.
