MTS acquires Eurotel


2010-01-06

MTS, the Russian mobile phone network operator, has acquired 100% of telecommunication services provider Eurotel from Mortfield Holdings Limited, a company based in Cyprus. The value of the deal is $110m, part of which is to be paid by the end of February 2011.
Eurotel operates a data transfer network of 19,500 km stretching through all the major cities of Russia. As a result of the acquisition of Eurotel, the total network capacity of MTS will reach 35,000 km.
