Results for Action improving despite decline in IT market
2010-01-22
Action, one of the
largest IT distributors in Poland, expects the fourth quarter of 2010 to bring a 30% increase in sales when compared to the same period of 2009, thanks to increasing orders from the public sector.
Despite the crisis on the
IT market, the company managed to show an increase in results in the last quarter of 2009 in comparison to Q4 2008. Still, as Piotr Bielinski, the company’s chairman, stated in
Puls Biznesu, the first eight months of 2010 are to be difficult for IT retailers. He is convinced that the IT and electronics market performs fairly well because individual clients are not afraid of the crisis anymore and they do not refrain from buying. The companies, on the other hand, have suspended investments and they do not place large orders.
In 2010, Action plans to develop the services offered by its online stores. The clients will be able to pick up the products purchased online in the Sferis stores. Moreover the latter chain will be developed via a franchise. In the second half of 2009, the company signed 20 franchise agreements. Action also continues developing its A.pl online store, offering foodstuffs, office accessories and household appliances. It has already moved the store to the new storage facility - the move will increase the store’s capacity threefold.
