The American investment fund Tiger Global is the new owner of Nasza Klasa (Nk.pl), the largest social networking portal in Poland, according to Rzeczpospolita. From January 2008, the Polish portal belonged to Forticom, which acquired a 62% stake in Nasza Klasa.
Forticom is an investment vehicle belonging to Digital Sky Technologies (DST). To date, DST has owned a 75% stake in Forticom, though it has recently acquired the remaining 25% shares of Forticom from Tiger Global and Estonian fund Gild Bankers. As payment for Forticom’s shares, DST gave control over Nk.pl to Tiger Global. The transaction proves that DST plans to focus on the Russian market rather than the Polish and to develop Odnoklassniki.ru, the Russian equivalent of Nk.pl.
