Mediatel and ARP fight for HAWE Telekom

Mediatel, Polish telecom company and the owner of HAWE Telekom, believes that the Industrial Development Agency (ARP) aims at selling Hawe Telekom and liquidating the company, which would consequently mean the liquidation of the entire capital group Hawe. Hawe Telekom owes ARP PLN 80m (€18.9m) and plans to pay the debt in eight years’ time. In contrast, ARP wants to acquire HAWE Telekom for PLN 120m (€28.3m). However, the restructuring process of HAWE Telekom is still in progress. Mediatel, HAWE Telekom and Huawei Poland has recently signed a letter of intent relating to the cooperation between companies. Furthermore, Mediatel applies for PLN 170m (€40.1m) of co-funding for the development of over 2,800 km fibre optic networks in Warmia-Masuria and Subcarpathia voivodships.
