OVH, European cloud infrastructure and hosting services provider, launched public cloud services in Poland. OVH Public Cloud supports more than 150,000 cloud instances and 120 PB of physical space based on OpenStack solutions (on which IaaS is built). Company representatives claim that Polish data centre will be the first location to use the current version of OpenStack – Newton in order to build a public cloud infrastructure. "Using this version of the software enables OVH to easily update its infrastructure, meaning fewer bugs and enhanced functionality for public cloud customers”, explains Krzysztof Tomaszewski. Opened at the end of last year, data center in Ozarow Mazowiecki is the latest OVH investment in the CEE region. Simultaneously, it is the next stage of the company’s development in Poland, since the launch of its Polish branch in 2004.
According to IDC, the value of the public cloud in Poland will exceed $200m this year. IDC also estimates that within two years Polish public cloud market will grow five times faster than traditional IT services market. The estimated average rate of investment in public cloud in Poland will exceed 18%.
