Q4 2011 brings subscribers outflow for Vodafone Romania

Vodafone, the second largest mobile operator in Romania in terms of subscribers, had 8.3 million mobile service subscribers in Q4 2011, which is 3.1% less in comparison to the preceding quarter and 15.1% less than in the corresponding period of 2010.

In Q4 2011, sales revenue of the operator declined by approximately 2.9% year-on-year to £167m (€194.6m). The annual sales of Vodafone in Romania last year totalled £670m (€773m), dropping by 3.6% on annual basis, if measured in Pound Sterling.

Most of the operator’s customers were pre-paid users, who accounted for 59% of Vodafone subscribers base in the final quarter of 2011. Nevertheless, their share shrank by 3.1 p.p. year on year in the Q4 2011.

The average monthly ARPU went up from €6.2 in Q4 2010 to €7.3 in Q4 2011, with an average post-paid subscriber bringing to the company €13.8 and pre-paid customer €2.9.

The mobile internet segment was the only growing one, showing a rise of 58% year on year in terms of revenue, and an increase by 75% on annual basis in terms of the number of users.
