LycaMobile, one of the world’s largest Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNO) will enter the Romanian market in H2 2014. It has already formed a partnership with Telekom Romania (previously Cosmote). LycaMobile claims it will be the first independent MVNO launched in the Romanian Market. The operator will offer voice and data services for both pre-paid and post-paid users. The company currently operates in 17 countries all over the world, and Romania will be the second CEE market it entered after Poland.
In Romania, Telekom Romania, RCS&RDS and 2K Telecom have allowed virtual operators into their networks. In fact, the development of the Romanian MVNO sector is hampered by the country’s low mobile tariffs as well as well-established budget mobile brands owned by exsisting MNOs.
