Hungarian companies fight against ransomware

In the last two years, companies operating in Hungary spent almost HUF 500 million (€1.6m) on solutions protecting against ransomware. Simultaneously, according to the latest study by G Data, a half of the respondents claim to have been affected by the malware, reports Budapest Business Journal.

According to the research, hackers demand from Hungarians HUF 180,000 (€586) on average for the decryption of files. Companies are more likely  to pay the ransom than individual users. As reported by G Data, around 70% of users received the key necessary for decryption after paying the ransom. Nevertheless, only 60-70% of the encrypted documents and files can be restored. The G Data study involved 600 business leaders and 1,000 individuals.
