Polish telecom operator, Netia, started modernisation of its traditional copper network, reported Polish Press Agency (PAP). Since the beginning of March 2017, the optical fibre networks were provided to about 120,000 households and several hundred of clients can already benefit from Netia’s services. Netia plans to provide optical fibre networks of 1 Gb/s to 2.6m households in Poland in 2020. The modernisation of networks will cost PLN 417.6m (€97.9m). Moreover, Netia is negotiating with Orange Polska about their possible cooperation in developing the optical fibre networks.
