Maciej Srebro has been appointed as the new CEO of Telekomunikacja Kolejowa (TK), a telecommunications operator, and has replaced Krzysztof Matey. Mr Srebro was the Minister of Communications in the late 1990s. He was responsible for the privatisation of TP SA, which was then sold to France Telecom.
TK, which has its own backbone network, is one of the significant players on the line rental and data transmission markets in Poland. Earlier this year the operator prevailed in the GSM 1800 tender, but it eventually decided to withdraw from the reservation of the frequencies. The TK shareholders include the Treasury, which holds a 62.3% stake, and Polish State Railways (PKP) – 37.7%.
